How to Optimize Your Site for Search Engines

Every blog or website owner should optimize their site for the search engines. In fact, if you don’t do this, your site will most likely not succeed. By this, we mean you won’t be getting any visible rankings and visitors coming to your site. In order to be successful, you’ll need to optimize your site for search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Currently, Google receives 79% of all traffic while Yahoo lags behind them. Here is a guide on how you can optimize your site for the search engines:

Focus on keywords

The most important step of SEO is doing your keyword research. What is this exactly? Basically, what you are trying to do is see what terms are searched the most. For example, you are typing in a “keyword” whenever you are trying to find something in Google or Yahoo. To find the proper keywords,  you will need a tool or an application to assist you. The most important things you need to learn about a keyword is how many searches it gets each month and what the competition is. This will help you find out what the best keyword is. Choose something that gets at least 2,000 or more searches a month and is under 25k competition. This way, you’ll be able to have your website ranked in less than a few months on the first page of Google.

Web Address

Your web address is very important and should contain a keyword phrase like we discussed before. Why is this? Well, the search engines have bots which will crawl your site every few days. It gradually indexes content and reads your web address. It also reads the extension. Search engines do this because they want to properly rank your website, based on keywords, tags, and so forth.
